It’s that time of the year and the holidays are in full swing! It can be an overwhelming time for some with all the shopping, cooking, finding things to entertain the kids, or showing off Hampton Roads to your long-distance family and friends. In fact, proudly hosting relatives in our CoVA stomping grounds is probably the last thing on your list, right?

Help others during this season of “MORE, MORE, MORE!”

At RE/MAX Ultra we care about pouring back into the community, not just getting you the home you’ve dreamed of. This year we participated in Homerama, in support of the non-profit, “Children Today, Leaders Tomorrow.” To keep the spirit of giving alive and thriving during this holiday season, here are a few suggestions for contributing to good causes.

The Salvation Army.

Yes, you see the volunteers standing outside most department stores, ringing their bells this time of year. But did you know you can actually schedule a pick up as well? Plan one hour out of your busy holiday routines and round up that family of yours to focus on what you can donate to others.

Gift matching at Union Missions.

Your employer may have a gift matching program, but it can be a common thing for businesses to forget when this busy time of year overloads people’s time and attention! Take a moment and check with your employer, or click here to see if your place of work is listed.

Donate baby items.

Kids grow, and they grow FAST. Donate those items your little ones have outgrown to charities looking to add to their inventory. Catholic Charities care centers in Virginia Beach (5361 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462) and Newport News (12829 Jefferson Ave., Suite 101, Newport News, VA 23608) accept gently used children’s items with great excitement. Check out their wish list here to see about specific items they are hoping to acquire.

Looking for something family-friendly to do for New Year’s Eve?

Last Night on the Town may be just what you’re looking for. The afternoon starts at 2:00pm inside Pembrooke Mall in Virginia Beach. There are magicians, jugglers, a mad scientists station, and a children’s countdown balloon drop at 5:00pm. The fun continues over at Town Centers Fountain Plaza with many musical acts and, of course, the countdown to 2020 right before midnight!

A laid back New Year’s.

Don’t like the busyness of New Year’s Eve? If you’re looking for a low key scene, try Big Ugly Brewing in Chesapeake. Inside the quaint, family-owned brewery, there is food, homemade soda, and a wide variety of brews. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Totally over 2019?

Are you looking for a reason to break out your old jean jacket and harem pants? Ring in 2020 with the Saved by the 90’s party at the Norva in Norfolk, open to all ages. Grab your walkman and moonwalk up to that link above to purchase your tickets.

We at RE/MAX Ultra of Hampton Roads hope that you find something fun and memorable to do this holiday season. It is, after all, the greatest place to live in the whole world!

Happy holidays to you and yours!
